Welcome to St. Edward Elementary School, a place where everyone is welcomed and every voice is heard! When you enter St. Edward, you will see a learning environment abundant in the diversity that makes up our society. Students from Egypt, Nigeria, India, Mexico, Chile and beyond walk our halls along with 3rd generation Nashvillians who attend the same school that their parents and even grandparents attended!
This acceptance of diversity is long-standing. Back in 1963, St. Edward hosted the first integrated football games in the parochial league when they were not welcomed elsewhere. As the diversity of Nashville’s population grew, so did that of St. Edward School. When the Hispanic population in the area grew, the doors were opened to support their needs as well. Proximity to major interstates provides another link to diversity. This easy access brings in students from 28 different zip codes around the city. Today, the diversity of our population is a true reflection of the racial, ethnic and economic variety of the city.
WE are St. Edward School and we welcome you to be part of this distinct community!
Notes from the Principal
The Saintly Scoop will now be published monthly instead of weekly. Each edition will include a bit more regular information – happenings in the classroom, spotlight on students and former students and detailed information of upcoming activities. In addition the weekly notes, each Monday will continue to provide a reminder of upcoming school and parish activities.
November… a time to give thanks. As we move into the Thanksgiving holiday, I’d like to take this time to share some things that I’ll be giving thanks for this year.
